What QUTAN is used for?<\/strong><\/div>\n
QUTAN is used to treat several illnesses, such as:<\/div>\n
\u2022 Bipolar depression and major depressive episodes in major depressive disorder: You may find that you feel depressed, feel guilty, lack energy, lose your appetite or can\u2019t sleep<\/div>\n
\u2022 Mania: where you may feel very excited, elated, agitated, enthusiastic or hyperactive or have poor judgment including being aggressive or disruptive<\/div>\n
\u2022 Schizophrenia: where you may hear or feel things that are not there, believe things that are not true or feel unusually suspicious, anxious, confused, guilty, tense or depressed<\/div>\n

Talk to your doctor before taking QUTAN, if you:<\/strong><\/div>\n
\u2022 Are allergic to Quetiapine or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine<\/div>\n
\u2022 Have heart problems<\/div>\n
\u2022 Have low blood pressure<\/div>\n
\u2022 Had a stroke or fits (seizure)<\/div>\n
\u2022 Have liver problems<\/div>\n
\u2022 Have a history of blood clots<\/div>\n
\u2022 Have diabetes<\/div>\n
\u2022 Are an elderly person with dementia (loss of brain function)<\/div>\n
\u2022 Have or have had a condition called \u2018sleep apnoea where you stop breathing for short periods during your normal nightly sleep<\/div>\n
\u2022 Have a condition where you cannot completely empty your bladder (urinary retention)<\/div>\n
\u2022 Have an eye problem<\/div>\n
\u2022 Have a history of problems with alcohol or drug use<\/div>\n
\u2022 Have a long-lasting and painful erection (priapism)<\/div>\n
\u2022 Have thoughts of suicide and worsening of your depression<\/div>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Tell your doctor if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription and herbal medicines.<\/div>\n

\u2022 Medicines used for viral and fungal infections<\/div>\n
\u2022 Erythromycin or clarithromycin used for bacterial infections<\/div>\n
\u2022 Nefazodone used for depression<\/div>\n
\u2022 Phenytoin or carbamazepine used to treat fits<\/div>\n
\u2022 Medicines used to treat high blood pressure<\/div>\n
\u2022 Barbiturates used for anxiety<\/div>\n
\u2022 Thioridazine or lithium used to treat mental problems<\/div>\n
\u2022 Diuretics<\/div>\n
\u2022 Medicines that can cause constipation,<\/div>\n

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.<\/div>\n
\u2022 Rapid heartbeat<\/div>\n
\u2022 Constipation, stomach upset (indigestion)<\/div>\n
\u2022 Swelling of arms or legs<\/div>\n
\u2022 Low blood pressure when standing up. this may make you feel dizzy or faint (may lead to falls)<\/div>\n
\u2022 Increased levels of sugar in the blood<\/div>\n
\u2022 Blurred vision<\/div>\n
\u2022 Abnormal dreams and nightmares<\/div>\n
\u2022 Feeling more hungry<\/div>\n
\u2022 Feeling irritated<\/div>\n
\u2022 Disturbance in speech and language<\/div>\n
\u2022 Thoughts of suicide and worsening of your depression.<\/div>\n
\u2022 Shortness of breath<\/div>\n
\u2022 Vomiting (mainly in the elderly)<\/div>\n
\u2022 Changes in the amount of thyroid hormones in your blood<\/div>\n
\u2022 Decreases in the number of certain types of blood cells<\/div>\n
\u2022 Increases in the amount of liver enzymes measured in the blood<\/div>\n
\u2022 Increases in the amount of the hormone prolactin in the blood.<\/div>\n

\u2022 Feeling weak, fainting (may lead to falls)<\/div>\n
\u2022 Stuffy nose<\/div>\n
\u2022 Dizziness (may lead to falls), headache, dry mouth<\/div>\n

\u2022 Withdrawal symptoms include not being able to sleep, feeling sick, headache, diarrhoea, being sick, dizziness, and irritability. gradual withdrawal over a period of at least 1 to 2 weeks is advisable<\/div>\n
