What is Aldactone and What is it Used For?<\/b><\/h2>\n

Aldactone<\/b>\u00a0contains the active ingredient\u00a0spironolactone<\/b>. It is a potassium-sparing diuretic that helps the body remove excess fluid by increasing urine production. In addition to its diuretic effect, spironolactone also has a blood pressure-lowering effect. It is used to treat various forms of fluid retention (edema) and high blood pressure when other treatments are ineffective or insufficient. It is also used for primary aldosteronism when other therapies are inadequate or inappropriate.<\/p>\n

Before Using Aldactone<\/b><\/h3>\n

Do not use Aldactone<\/b>\u00a0if you:<\/p>\n

  • Are allergic to spironolactone or any other ingredients in the medication<\/li>\n
  • Have acute kidney failure, significantly reduced kidney function, or no urine production<\/li>\n
  • Have Addison’s disease (reduced production of cortisol and aldosterone)<\/li>\n

      In rare cases, Aldactone can affect white blood cells, potentially impairing the immune system. If you experience symptoms such as fever with severe general discomfort or local infection symptoms, seek medical attention promptly.<\/p>\n

      Drug Interactions<\/b><\/h3>\n

      Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you use, have recently used, or might use other medications. Aldactone’s effects may be altered by:<\/p>\n

      • Potassium-containing medications or high-potassium diets<\/li>\n
      • NSAIDs (for pain and inflammation)<\/li>\n

        The typical dose for adults with hypertension or edema is 50-100 mg daily, divided into 1-2 doses. It may be increased to 200 mg daily if necessary.
