Atarax Overview<\/b><\/h2>\n

Description<\/b><\/h3>\n

Atarax<\/b>\u00a0is a special medical tranquilizer. It is used for the treatment of anxiety in adults, symptomatic treatment of allergic itching, and sedation.<\/p>\n

Contraindications<\/b><\/h3>\n

Contraindications for using Atarax include porphyria, pregnancy and childbirth, lactation, and use in children under 3 years of age. It is also contraindicated in individuals with hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug, such as aminophylline, ethylenediamine, cetirizine, and other piperazine derivatives.<\/p>\n

Administration<\/b><\/h3>\n

Atarax should be taken orally. Recommended doses for children depend on age and the type of treatment.<\/p>\n

Possible Side Effects<\/b><\/h3>\n

On the part of the nervous system:<\/b>
\n\u2022 Infrequently – dizziness, tremor, insomnia;
\n\u2022 Rarely – dyskinesia, convulsions;<\/p>\n

On the part of the psyche:<\/b>
\n\u2022 Infrequently – confusion, agitation;
\n\u2022 Rarely – disorientation, hallucinations;<\/p>\n

On the part of the immune system:<\/b>
\n\u2022 Rarely – hypersensitivity reactions;
\n\u2022 Very rarely – anaphylactic shock;<\/p>\n

On the part of the cardiovascular system:<\/b>
\n\u2022 Rarely – lower blood pressure, tachycardia;<\/p>\n

On the part of the liver and biliary tract:<\/b>
\n\u2022 Rarely – a violation of the liver function tests;<\/p>\n

Additional side effects observed in patients treated with cetirizine (the main metabolite of hydroxyzine) include weight gain, enuresis, dysuria, oculogyric crisis, dystonia, asthenia, depression, aggression, paresthesia, tic, thrombocytopenia, oedema, and diarrhoea.<\/p>\n

Dosage for Children<\/b><\/h3>\n

The doctor calculates the dose of Atarax for children individually, taking into account body weight and in accordance with the recommendations on dosage. The minimum dose is 12.5 mg.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
